Creating a clean air environment

Our simple hydrophobic vents ensure particle free venting to microbiological standards and are remarkably simple to use. You simply peel and stick the venting disc where required. High tech bonded polymers produce a high level of contamination control in a remarkably simple way through an Adhesive Microfiltration Disc. Over the last 34 years we have developed a high level of knowledge and expertise in PTFE venting technologies.

We have used multilayered PTFE venting for over two decades in our own commercial plant laboratory. However our ideas have been copied since the early 1990's by a number of international laboratories and companies. We were indeed the first and original in the market place for aseptic venting with multilayered PTFE adhesive discs. We know what works because we have many years of experience in our own laboratory and through our collaboration with other companies, customers and research institutes worldwide.

Orchid plants grow better and quicker with the correct PTFE venting system

PTFE vents allow elevated in-flask humidity to be maintained, ensuring greater levels of stomata opening and higher volume gas exchange resulting in better and quicker plant growth. This is only possible with a hydrophobic venting system.

This is the main reason why plants grow better with such a venting system. It mirrors the effect of increasing humidity in a glasshouse... where stress free plants grow fastest. PTFE venting retains higher water vapour pressures and atmospheric moisture in-vitro than conventional venting.

This better growth can be seen in orchids and a range of tissue cultured or micropropagated plants produced in the laboratory and destined for the nursery.

All this is achieved with no risk to aseptic integrity. There is no route for contamination through the PTFE vents. Other venting systems can fail at this vapour access point leading to the loss of cultures.

High levels of air exchange and photo transpiration are possible without the detrimental dehydration associated with conventional venting. Put simply - your plants will grow quicker with the right venting system.

Not all vents are the same and a non-hydrophobic vent cannot achieve the same results. Such 'Barrier Vents' or 'Bio Filters' simple act as a particle filter. They work in a very similar manner to venting with cotton wool or bandages. There can be high levels of dehydration and associated problem with media drying up causing a slowing of growth to your plants. Moisture or in flask condensation can also lead to contamination with many non-hydrophobic venting systems.
